I don't have a box for this week (I'm hard at work on a pretty cool one, though), so here's a little bowl I turned last weekend. I choose a piece of flatsawn ash, because I knew that the end and edge grain would flow nicely in straight lines all the way around the outside of the bowl. It's a cool effect. There's also a very nice chatoyance. Sadly, my photography and lighting skills aren't quite good enough to capture it. The bowl is about 2 1/8 in. tall and the diameter is nearly 5 in. at the lip.

You bowl has perfect proportions. It is suited perfectly for cener piece of a commerical about eating organic and healthy. Sorry, not sure if that is what you were working towards.

Thanks, John. I was definitely trying to nail the proportions. I like them, and I'm glad that you do too. And I wouldn't mind at all if it was featured in a commercial like that. I was aiming for a well-proportioned, simple but elegant bowl.

What a lovely little bowl! I think this is just a perfect size when I needed to offer some nuts or pretzels to offer my guests as they wait for me to cook for dinner.
