5 Day Furniture Class
This is a one-on-one class. You and I will choose a piece of furniture to make over a 5 day period (M-F of one week). We'll start from the beginning Monday morning: milling lumber. On Friday, you'll leave with a completed piece of furniture. The goal of the class is to give you a thorough understanding of what goes into making a well-made piece of custom furniture. So, at every step I'll explain the thinking behind my approach, and I'll share everything I've learned about the process at hand. Here are some things that could be covered (depends on the project): choosing lumber, milling, resawing, dovetails, mortise-and-tenon joinery, dadoes, rabbets. miters, frame-and-panel construction, drawer construction and fitting, turning pulls, hanging and fitting doors, finishing.
All materials included. I'll select boards ahead of time, and I'll be just as picky as I am when making furniture for myself or a client. (We'll discuss why I chose the particular boards I did.)
